World's longest teak bridge closed

    The Mandalay Archaeological Department has ordered the closure of the world's oldest and longest teak bridge "Ubon".


    Yesterday, at the end of the Buddhist fast there were many Buddhists who went on a pilgrimage to worship Chaok Tor Ji Chedi. In Amarapura City, Mandalay Region, walking across the Ubon Bridge, the wooden bridge broke and fell into the water. 23 people fell into the water from a height of about 5 metres, of which 23, of which 15 were men and 8 women.


    Following the incident, the Mandalay Archaeological and Museums Department has ordered the temporary closure of the Ubon Bridge, pending an assessment of its condition.
