Indonesia to increase timber exports to China and beyond
Wiradadi Soeprayogo, General Chairman of Indonesian Saw and Processed Wood Entrepreneurs Association (ISWA), claimed that the global economy is undergoing turbulence and uncertainty, which has led to the impact on Indonesia's saw and processed wood exports, with a decline in the European and American export markets.
He disclosed that in 2022, the total value of sawn timber and processed wood products exports reached US$2.4 billion, however, from the beginning of 2023 to the present, this figure has dropped by 13 per cent.
He also said that the market for Indonesian sawn and processed timber in Asia-Pacific countries such as China is very favourable, and Indonesia is preparing to increase its market efforts in Asian countries.
