Swedish log prices rise in Q2
Compared to the first quarter of 2023, Swedish delivered log prices increased in the second quarter of 2023 for both sawnwood and pulpwood. The Swedish Forest Agency reported a 3 per cent increase in sawnwood log prices and a nearly 6 per cent increase in pulpwood prices.
Regionally, the biggest price increases for sawnwood were in Norra Norrland and Svealand, up 1 per cent, while prices in Götaland and Södra Norrland remained unchanged.
As for pulpwood prices, the largest increase was in Norra Norrland, up 13 per cent. Södra Norrland, Svealand and Götaland saw increases of 5 per cent.
Log prices continued to rise compared to the same period last year. Overall, sawnwood prices increased by 9 per cent. Regionally, sawnwood prices in Svealand increased by 12 per cent, while prices in Norra and Södra Norrland and Götaland increased by 9 per cent.
Compared to the second quarter of 2022, pulpwood prices have increased by 40 per cent. Svealand had the largest increase of almost 55 per cent, followed by Södra Norrland and Götaland with increases of almost 46 per cent and 33 per cent, respectively. Pulpwood prices in Norra Norrland increased by 31 per cent.
