The United States may impose heavy anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese hardwood plywood

The Vietnamese newspaper Industry and Trade reported on August 9, 2022, that on July 25, 2022, the US Department of Commerce announced the preliminary conclusion of an anti-circumvention investigation into hardwood plywood products imported from Vietnam.

In its preliminary conclusion, the Commerce Department said it would impose anti-dumping and countervailing duties on plywood imports from China if the planks inside the plywood were imported from China. If wood panels made in Vietnam or other countries are used, anti-dumping and countervailing duties will be exempted.

Currently, the United States is levying 183.36% anti-dumping duties and 22.98% to 194.90% countervailing duties on such products from China.

The US Department of Commerce has delayed issuing a final ruling in the case until October 17, 2022.
