State Forestry and Grassland Administration: 80 per cent of China's timber is provided by collective forests
On the morning of 12 October, the Information Office of the State Council held a press conference to introduce information on the Programme for Deepening the Reform of the Collective Forest Rights System. At the conference, Wang Junzhong, director of the Department of Forestry and Grassland Reform and Development of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, introduced that collective forests provide 80 per cent of domestic timber and more than 80 per cent of economic forest products. Relying on collective forest resources, localities have vigorously developed green and rich industries, increasing farmers' incomes.
